Identifying Opportunities in Economic
& Regulatory Trends
Millennials now are
one of the largest economic influencers in the marketplace. Recently, millennials
have over taken Generation X-ers as the largest demographic in the workforce.
Its demographic like these have influence over the economic trends and on how
people choose to spend their money, and how they conduct business.
Economic Trend Opportunity:
Why More Millennials are Flocking to Shared Office Spaces
·
I
think that there is an opportunity here because of the giant increase year over
year that this is growing, and the benefits that it provides the users. Also,
there are many people that work from home now or can do their work in a coffee
shop, but want a place they can use for formal meeting with clients, and
presentations, but don’t want to have the high upkeep charges of renting a
floor or a whole building.
·
According to the article there is an expected
3.8 Million workers using a Shared office space.
·
I
saw this opportunity to because people are becoming more used to and comfortable
using “sharing apps” such as Uber, Lyft, Air BnB, Homeaway etc. and there are
more apps that act in similar fashions from renting power tools to boats.
·
The
prototypical customer for this is going to be generally someone who is younger,
wanting a place to work in an urban environment at not such as high of a cost, or
a small startup with not as much working capital to rent or own an office
space.
·
This
may be a little more difficult to exploit, because it is expensive to own a
building to be able to rent it out.
Economic Trend Opportunity:
People subscribing to multiple Steaming Services
·
There
is a definite opportunity here to provide one streaming subscription that can
include all the main streaming services (Hulu, Netflix, Spotify, Amazon Prime)
rather than having to pay for all of them separately.
·
More
and more people are unsubscribing from their cable providers and using the
internet to watch their TV though a variety of means
·
Streaming
TV is going to be the next big thing in content consumption. There are NFL. MLB
and NBA games now that are going to be available via these streaming services.
·
The
prototypical customer is a millennial, or a cord cutter.
·
This
is easily to exploit because people need their TV, and their TV shows.
·
I
saw this opportunity because I am a cord cutter.
Regulatory Trend Opportunity:
H.R. 2842 Accelerating Individuals into the Workforce Act
·
This
bill provides the opportunity for lower-income Americans to connect with
employers looking to fill positions. And the government will subsidize part of
the wage for this worker if they are to be hired. This includes jobs that need
apprenticeship or on the job training.
·
This
makes me believe that there is an opportunity for employers to hire these
people to minimize their wage costs and can use that savings to reinvest in their
business.
·
The
most likely person to take advantage of this opportunity are people who own
small business and looking for workers
·
This
seems easy to exploit if you know about the program, and work with the people who
oversee the program in your community.
·
I
saw this opportunity because it a chance to save money. And any chance to save money
means you can reinvest in the company and make your company better or profit
more.
Regulatory Trend Opportunity:
S. 81: Seniors Fraud Prevention Act of 2017
·
This
bill gives the FTC the power to establish an office within the Bureau of
Consumer protection to help prevent fraud targeting senior citizens.
·
If
the bill is giving the power to create an office there is obviously an opportunity
and a need for this service.
·
A
senior citizen is most likely consumer for this as it is aimed towards them and
assisting them against fraud.
·
This
opportunity may be difficult to exploit of you were to offer a private service
to aid in fraud prevention when the government will be providing one for free.
·
I
saw this opportunity because if the government is needing the creation of a
department centered around this there is obviously a need for its services.

I seriously love reading your blog!! Thanks for always doing your best, it really shows. Good work. Overall, I thought the format was good, I loved the addition of the memes/ photos to add interest, and your explanations were easy to follow. The Senior Fraud Prevention Act is SO relevant right now. I agree it can be slightly difficult to exploit, however think outside of just aiding in fraud prevention, maybe a new position that helps the company stay on track to avoid fraud?
ReplyDeleteThis post was in a very good format. I agree with Cameron, the memes and pictures are really funny and makes the post enjoyable. I am amazed on how in your first article there are 3.8 million people sharing office spaces, that is a very big number, working from home is the best option for me. On the second article I completely agree, I don't use cable I alway use Netflix and that is all you really need. Hope to read ore of your posts.
