What
are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the
requirements of this course?
This course is different
than any other course that I have taken in the past. This course requires much
more time management and lets, be real it’s a pretty fun class. I really had to
manage my time to make sure I give myself adequate time to do the blog posts,
which some take a surprising amount of time because of the interviews.
The course
also has taught me how to write in a more interesting and engaging way. Before I
always felt whatever, I wrote was boring and mundane. This gives me motivation
to be a bit more engaging and have fun with what I am doing.
Talk
about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you
through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past
two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
Man, I feel like I give
up quite a lot. I mean who doesn’t. Most recently I gave up on eating healthy
for a about week. I’ve been try to eat and be healthier in my life so I don’t feel
like shit when I sit around on my couch. Well I got back on track because I just
started to feel lethargic cause I wasn’t eating the right foods that I should and
did have the energy I had before I went off the wagon. So I got back on board
and now everything is back to normal.
What
are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the
skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset' ?
1)
Manage your time to complete the assignments
2)
Come up with a list of 20 or so people you can talk to
for a extended period of time for the interviews for the blog posts.
3)
Have fun with the class, it’s a great way to
brainstorm ideas with your peers and get real feedback. You get what you put
into the class.

Josh, I really loved your third tip for next semesters students- you truly do get what you put into the class! I realized after I started, that I wasn't passionate about my idea and recently switched to a business idea I'm actually doing (and passionate about) and I realized I am getting way more out of the class! I'm working to develop a Christian Counseling blog for millennial women. It's so fun for me!
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree, it is easy to give up on stuff and I feel like I do it all the time as well. I had practically given up on this class a week or two ago, but I'm trying to get back on track and power through. I definitely wish someone had told me before the class started to make a list of people to interview and had been able to prepare that ahead of time.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I agree that this course requires efficient time management skills. I always give myself a solid two days to complete the interviews and assignments on time. The interviews can be challenging to find different people every week, but it is very interesting to hear their feedback on the issues. I am glad you are back on track with the healthy diet. I frequently find myself slipping on eating healthy, but I balance healthy foods with the junk food. You came up with a great point about searching for interview candidates early on in the course because you won’t be able to get the interviews if you procrastinate.
