Who
you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also:
what are your aspirations? Specifically, regarding your business concept, how
do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life?
· Hey y’all. As I’m sure you realized by now I’m
sure that you know my name is (*chika chika* slim shady) Josh Markevich. I’m a third-year
general business student. I have a multitude of talents and skills that make me
a cool dude if you don’t mind me saying that. I have a lot of experience with
public speaking and having to deliver in high pressure situations. I have had a
variety of business world experience have a few internships that have been
across a variety of industries and focused on a variety of skills. The experience
ranged from sales to accounting to marketing to human resources to customer
satisfaction. I play poker on the regular and am good enough to help pay for my
rent by playing poker online and in person at casinos, which shows I have good
financial management skills. If this business concept takes off and makes me
the next billionaire I would love to put my full time and effort into this.
What are you offering to customers? Describe the product or service (in other
words, how you'll solve customers' unmet needs).
· The service that I am offering is an
application based service that tracks your spending by linking with your bank
account, debit card, or credit card. It focuses on the money that you spend on
subscriptions and on monthly payments. For example, gym memberships, Netflix,
hulu, etc. It will text you every month before you pay the subscription and
give you the option to cancel it. At the end of the month it will send you a
text message with the total of your subscriptions. Also on the app it will give
you a cheaper alternative.
Who are you offering it to? Describe, in as much detail as possible, the
demographic and psychographic characteristics of your customers. Think
especially of this question: what do your customers all have in common?
·
The main people this is targeting is people
that are on their own finically and not a part of their parents’ credit card. Typically,
these are millennials or younger gen-xers. The subscriptions business is
popular with this group, and a lot of money can get wasted. I mean who does not
love having extra money around.
Why do they care? Your solution is only valuable as so far as
customers believe its valuable to them. Here, explain why customers will pay
you money to use your product or service.
·
Why do people care? Do bears get into YETI
Coolers? Who does not like having an extra $20-$30 dollars a Month, lemme think
about that….. no one. That’s saving of up to $360 a year. That’s like 60
chipotle bowls.
What are your core competencies? What sets you apart from everyone else? Also:
what do you have that nobody else has?
·
I am a go-getter. I do not take no for an
answer. I thrive under pressure. I have a variety of talents and experiences
that not many people have. I have a lot of connections in the business world to
higher-ups in major companies, and other people who have experience with
start-ups. People love me, and know me. I have a great repour with people and
can strike up a conversation with almost anyone.
In
addition to these five elements, please spend a paragraph evaluating whether
you believe these elements fit together or whether there are aspects of your
business concept that are weaker / out-of-joint with the others. Feedback that I have received, and evaluation.
·
I think that all of these elements all work
together to create a successful business as well as a businessman, to start a
business you a creative mind, a possible way to fund it, and people to help you
out to make the business get off the ground. I have some experience with
creating an app, but no experience creating an application that needs security
features because it has peoples banking information. The feedback that I had was fairly positive. People loved the idea of how I was targeting college aged students, and it seemed that many people would use the application if it was created. This is always reassuring to hear, when people like your idea. The other feedback the I had received on the previous idea napkin was to try to target an older audience possibly, like adults. I feel that this would change for what I am going for in the application.

I definitely think that public speaking will help along the way with selling your product. Also, I think that creating an app and focusing on the technological aspects of it will help too. The way you planned this napkin – your creative mind, public speaking, helping making business get off the ground – is definitely a way to settle for the best. Great Job!
ReplyDeleteJosh, real quick- I would go back and adjust your post because you are supposed to do two things you changed from your last post based on feedback, not the weaker/out of joint paragraph. Also, check your spelling. There were a few issues there. Otherwise, way to go! The fact that you have public speaking experience and you thrive under pressure will definitely help you on this venture. Also- 60 chipotle bowls? I'm in! Good use of relatable stats :)
ReplyDeleteHello, very interesting . I have always been a fan of this idea. I always like to check what I am spending on, especially on monthly subscriptions because they always tend to charge you something more that you did not agree on the contracts. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteHey, I really liked all the Alway Sunny images, they always give me a good smile. I think your product is for sure something that could serve a lot of people. I know personally that I am always looking for ways that I could be saving money. I think your public speaking skills will help you on future business endeavors throughout your career. I know that public speaking is a skill that I definitely need to improve on. Overall, good job!
ReplyDeleteHey Josh, you do a great job of making your posts inciteful, enlightening, and entertaining. You explain all of your ideas and thoughts in great detail and I feel like I have a good grasp on your idea. You did an excellent job receiving your feedback and implementing into this new post. Overall I think you did a really good job!
ReplyDeleteHey Josh, another great post. I think that most people, especially people in the current generation would scoff at this idea but need a reality check in how bad they actually need an app like this. It seems that our generation is so intent on having a good time, which is no crime, and not so intent on worrying about income vs. expenses. I will say that most of this generation is spoiled as far as financial standing is concerned but also is not as responsible. Many of us expect to just become rich because we "Deserve it". The classic, "It's only $4.99 a month", really starts to add up to hundreds a month worth of Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Pandora, etc.
