What is Your Secret Sauce?

Everyone has certain skills that make them unique and their own person. This can range from computer hacking skills, to bow hunting skills to sales experience. This will make entrepreneurs think and act differently.

Back during my freshman Summer B (damn that makes me feel old), I took the Warrington Welcome class and for one for one of the assignments in the class we needed to complete a Strengths Finder signature themes assessment.   This assisted me in realizing what personality traits I was competent in. My assessment gave me the traits: Adaptability, Deliberative, Competitive, Relator, Harmony.
There are many aspects that go towards Human Capital, and everyone has their own thing that makes them tick and unique.

My 5 Aspects of my Human Capital are: Competitive Drive, Adaptability, Cultural Experiences, Humor, and Insight

Aspect 1: Competitive Drive
I have competed in sports and competitions for the most of my life. I have an attitude that makes me a fierce competitor, and will do anything to make me successful. This ranges from spending 8+ hours on the golf course to practice and become one of the top junior players in the country to drilling my intramural teammates for making a stupid or messing up an easy play.

Aspect 2: Adaptability
Playing in golf and poker tournaments for most of my life I had learn to change my mind set depending on the situation and learn how to plan for these situations differently. Also through my work experience a couple summers ago I began as an accounting intern and eventually by the end of the summer I worked more in the sales department. I feel that being adaptable in a variety of situations is important to be successful in anything that you do.
Aspect 3: Cultural Experiences
I have traveled extensively in my life traveling to 49 of 50 states and to over 40 countries. This gave me the experience to see how different people live and interact within their community. This would give an entrepreneur a possible leg up on their competitors.

Aspect 4: Humor
Who doesn’t like a guy that can crack a joke from time to time, I mean we all love a good laugh. This helps when interacting with customers and potential investors to make you more personable.

Aspect 5: Insight
I have been told that I give good advice about a variety of situations and have good ideas.

5 Interviews
Interview 1: Dennis Fiore (a close friend)

Dennis reflected on that I am always able to hang out which shows that I am a flexible person and easy going. It also shows that I am a good friend.

Interview 2: Russell Soffer (a close friend and my neighbor freshman year)

Russell made a joke about how observant I was, to bad my phone died before the rest of the interview was completed. He made a joke about the squirrel that we almost walked on when we were walking
home. But it shows that I have a very detail-oriented personality, and notice the small things.

Interview 3: Jacob Ordos (another close friend)

Jake focused on how I am different and how I am a free spirit. I feel that this is much of who I am as a person.

Interview 4:My Mom (a boys best friend is his mother)

Who knows you better than anyone else in the world besides your mom. Your mom knows you better than you probably know yourself.

Interview 5: Alejandro Davila (a close friend)

Alejandro reflected with my humor. Humor is a good thing, He says that I have a funny comment to say in a variety of situations which is helpful in a lot of places, and can get you out of some sticky situations.

Reflect on the Differences

I did not see too many differences between the interviews that my friends gave. I feel that the friends that know me the best have seen all sides of personality and know me almost as good as myself. I feel like this is important in almost any setting having people knowing who you really are and not putting on airs for them.

Comments

  1. It is true that your mother knows you more than anyone else – I mean she is the one that birthed you. Definitely interviewing close friends also helps to know what you are truly capable of doing and your strong abilities. Jacob Ordo's interview, believe it or not, really stood out to me because being the "light of someone's day" is pretty impactful.

  2. It seems like you know yourself pretty well, it's always reassuring when people think the same things about you that you think of yourself. Also, that is a crazy amount of traveling that you have done! That is definitely something that gives you experiences and knowledge that most people don't ever get. Hopefully you can leverage that into helping your company somehow.
